DEREK MEARS

Derek Mears is an American actor and stuntman best known for his imposing 6’5″ frame and creature-suit performances across horror and sci-fi. Embracing his unique look—shaped in part by alopecia—and a background in improv, he launched his Hollywood career through stunt work in major blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean before breaking out as Jason Voorhees in the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th. Praised for bringing physical nuance and emotion to heavily prosthetic roles, Mears has built an extensive screen resume with prominent credits including the Classic Predator in Predators (2010), the titular hero in DC’s Swamp Thing (2019), and appearances in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Alita: Battle Angel, and Sleepy Hollow.
