MARC DEVEAULT

Marc is a retired military medic turned special effects artist who turned 20 years of real-world experience into full-time movie magic. After serving tours of duty in Bosnia, Haiti, and Afghanistan, Marc began doing hyper-realistic casualty simulation for military training exercises, a gig that reignited his childhood dream of working in SFX.

Upon retiring from the Armed Forces, he moved to Nova Scotia and quickly made his mark on the Maritimes film scene. Known for his keen eye for detail and incredible practical prosthetics, Marc’s work can be seen in Stephen King’s Big Driver, Lifetime’s The Lizzie Borden Chronicles (starring Christina Ricci), X-Men: Apocalypse, and Netflix’s Frontier (starring Jason Momoa). Today, he brings that rare mix of battlefield authenticity and artistic passion to sets across the region.

SANDY CARRUTHERS

Sandy Carruthers is a Canadian comic book artist and illustrator best known as the original artist behind The Men in Black comic book series, which served as the foundation for the blockbuster movie franchise. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and based in Prince Edward Island, Carruthers has built an extensive career spanning comic illustration, graphic design, and editorial cartooning.

Over the years, his artwork has been featured in titles such as Captain Canuck, Invaders from Mars, and the superhero webcomic series Canadiana: The New Spirit of Canada. In addition to illustrating graphic novels for publishers like Graphic Universe and Charlton NEO, Carruthers spent 25 years teaching graphic design at Holland College before co-founding Sandstone Comics, an Island-based publishing house behind works such as Dark Coast, Dark Sanctuary and Century Man.

Based right out of neighboring Millbrook, NS, this dedicated character duo brings cinema’s most legendary horror icons straight to the floor at Hubtown Horror. Specializing in high-fidelity portrayals of Michael Myers (Halloween) and Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th), they totally nail the screen-accurate gear, the silent walk, and the terrifying presence of both slasher legends. Whether they’re lurking around the convention hall for photo ops or hanging out with fellow fans, this duo brings authentic movie-monster energy to the local horror scene.
